The National Meeting of Culture helped to define objectives, goals and outcomes of public cultural policies

The budget for the development of cultural infrastructure this year has increased by 500 percent.

Carmen Pérez Camacho, researcher and specialist in cultural policy stressed the importance of talking about cultural rights in the Internet, the use of public space and how to extend the protection of property especially in case of the native peoples of Mexico.


The National Meeting of Culture took place in the city of Morelia, Michoacan, on 4 and 5 September. The meeting was organized by the National Council for Culture and the Arts (Conaculta) to discuss, among other things, the National Cultural Action Program whose four pillars are: the social dimension of culture; use of the cultural infrastructure; development of the digital agenda of culture and the cultural influence of Mexico in the world.


The meeting brought together directors of  cultural institutions around the country. President of Conaculta, Rafael Tovar i de Teresa, reiterated that the agency must work closely and inclusive manner with cultural institutions.
