Culture Minister Claudia Barattini, led the recognition ceremony of "Teacher training workshop in the framework of the Strengthening of Public Education through Culture" with 24 teachers from schools in the town of Pedro Aguirre Cerda.

This initiative has been developed by the Cultural Council of the Metropolitan Region, led by Ana Carolina Arriagada, and the Regional Directorate of Education, led by Felipe Melo. The initiative seeks to foster and promote cultural activities, arts, arts education, reading, dissemination and valorisation of heritage in public education institutions. It also seeks to strengthen the school system and stimulate awareness among the student community in and outside the classroom.

The ceremony took place at the Davila Pedro Aguirre Cerda Consolidated School, where Minister Barattini, along with participating teachers, welcomed the initiative.

"For me it's a gift to hear the things that have happened to you with this workshop, because that's what drives us every day. We have a chance to change things from education, to face a radical transformation in the education of our children. And our mission is to put the arts at the heart of education reform. This is why we need artists and creators in schools and I want to thank you for this work and for being open to this new experience, "said the Minister.
The teacher training workshop was led by actress Paula Zúñiga, who formed and trained teachers in the Alba Emoting method, training them in the use of tools to control emotions in the classroom.

The artist explained her reasons for participating in this initiative. "Art belongs to all, not just some, and that is the spirit that should be present in Chile. Art allows to untap new spaces in the brain and creativity can be used in any profession. Being creative can break the mold and education must take a fresh look. Recognizing emotions is important, because we all feel but we forgot why we behave like machines, because we are in a system where the human is lost, "said Zuniga.

The teacher training workshop is part of the joint actions that are developing metropolitan and regional leadership under the project for Strengthening Education through Culture, which provides training programs for teachers, youth residencies, workshops, mobile cinema, youth Orchestra, rock schools, circus arts, among others.

This initiative is also collaborating with other agencies such as the National Institute for Youth (INJUV), the National Sports Institute (IND), the National Board of Student Aid and Scholarships (JUANEB), the Municipality of Santiago, the Youth Orchestra Foundation and Children (Foji), Rock Schools and Education Quality Agency.
