Ministries of Culture and Public Works met to coordinate work together

Secretaría Nacional de Cultura ,
28 October 2014, Paraguay

The Minister of Culture Mabel Causarano and the Minister of Public Works and Communications (MOPC), Ramón Jiménez Gaona held a meeting at the MOPC. They discussed several items such as the visit of the Spanish winners of the design competition for the historic center, the first phase of the underground cabling of downtown and topics related to restoration of historic buildings.

In the first part of the meeting, Minister Causarano presented to Minister Jiménez Gaona the busy schedule of the members of the Urban Ecosystem, the winner of the design competition to revitalize the historic centre. This will be their second visit to the country and they will have several meetings with the MOPC and other institutions.

Both authorities confirmed that as part of this visit, the visitors will held a press conference on 31 October to explain the first phases of the underground cabling.

It is worth to note that throughout this process and during the restoration of heritage buildings, the National Secretariat of Culture (SNC) and the Ministry of Public Works and Communications will work together. The SNC will be responsible for providing technical advice for those buildings that most urgently need these interventions. Both institutions are committed by an agreement to protect any archaeological remains that may be discovered during these works or excavations.
