The Swedish Agency for Cultural Policy Analysis remains in its current form

Swedish Agency for Cultural Policy Analysis,
08 January 2015, Sweden

In the budget bill presented by the Swedish government in the autumn 2014, it was announced that the Agency for Cultural Policy Analysis was supposed to be phased out in 2015. Just before year-end the Agency was however informed, that the Agency will remain in its current form and that the business will continue as before.

- This announcement is good news as my belief is that the cultural sector deserve the same lighting, transparency and knowledge support as other policy areas. We need an independent and competent cultural policy evaluation environment in Sweden. It strengthens both cultural policy and cultural life, says Sverker Härd, director of the Agency for Cultural Policy Analysis.

Earlier, the government has decided to analyze agencies in other policy areas. The Parliamentary Committee report states that "it is important to have an independent analysis of the use of cultural funding. This can be done by an independent agency or by interaction with another policy analysis agency. How this practically can be done in the future should be investigated during 2015 ". Currently the Agency for Cultural Policy Analysis does not know the details of the planned investigation.
