Chief Executive

Spitafields Music,
21 January 2015, England

Spitalfields Music is a creative charity for East London with a national reputation for innovation, quality and reach. We produce two music festivals, a year-round Learning & Participation programme and a national touring programme each year. We have a track record for punching well above our weight through great partnerships, gritty ambition and being based in one of the most dynamic parts of the UK. The charity is in a particularly buoyant period and has just written a new ambitious business plan.

Following the appointment of Abigail Pogson as Managing Director of Sage Gateshead, the board of trustees seeks a new Chief Executive to lead Spitalfields Music in its next phase of life.

The role:

• To provide strategic leadership for the charity’s activity which includes performance, education, community engagement and audience development.

• To match creative ambition and financial sustainability.

• To set a culture of collaboration, partnership and leverage to ensure that the charity reaches the widest range of people and can operate as effectively as possible.

The person:

• An inspirational leader with a commitment to artistic quality and integrity and a knowledge of music and education.

• A creative entrepreneur, who can seek new opportunities and build partnerships.

• Comfortable operating in a wide range of different contexts, relating to a range of different people and committed to bringing the best out of people and situations.
