Arts organisations in Northern Ireland ordered to do more for disabled people

Plans to increase attendance and participation in the arts by disabled people in Northern Ireland have been launched by the regions arts council.

The strategy will oblige funded organisations to develop more activities specifically aimed at engaging disabled audiences and participants.

The three-year Disabled Action Plan for 2015-18 comes despite recently announced cuts that will see expenditure on the arts in the region fall from 13p to just over 11p per person per week.
