IFACCA Board Meets in Kuala Lumpur

The 42nd Meeting of the IFACCA Board was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 9-10 March, hosted by the  National Department for Culture and Arts of the  Ministry of Tourism and Culture. The board meeting was attended by Stephen Wainwright (New Zealand), Poul Bache (Denmark), Felipe de Leon (Philippines), Datuk Norliza Rofli (Malaysia), Bilel Aboudi (Tunisia), Rosemary Mangope (South Africa), Elise Huffer (Fiji), Sarah Gardner (Executive Director) and Zhang Haiying (China) as an observer on behalf of Mr Dong . It was the first board meeting chaired by Mr Wainwright who took over as Chair on 1 January 2014.

This meeting saw the Board approve IFACCA’s new Strategic Plan for 2015–2020, as well as shortlisting potential hosts for the 8th World Summit on Arts and Culture. The Board also reviewed a comparative evaluation of the previous six World Summits and a proposal for the development of IFACCA’s capacity building activities. As at all meetings, the Board also undertook its regular reviews of the organisation's budgeting and governance procedures as well as it major programs and activities.

Bilel Aboudi, Deputy Director of International Cooperation & External Relations, Ministry of Culture, Tunisia, was elected Treasurer.

On the final afternoon of the meeting, the Board thanked and farewelled Poul Bache, who has served on the Board for six years, and for two years as Treasurer. Poul Bache will retire from his position as Chief Executive Officer of the Danish Agency for Culture in April.
