The University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked universities across the country to include the history and unique culture of the north-eastern parts of the country in the higher education curricula.
It has also asked universities to incorporate in their curricula information about individuals from the North-East who had participated in anti-colonial uprisings as well as the freedom movement.
Information to this effect was shared by Union minister for human resource and development Smriti Irani in a written reply during the Lok Sabha.
