Malaysia Culture and Arts Events March 2015

A range of arts and culture events will be held in Malaysia this month.

 

1.EAST WIND FESTIVAL

The festival which took place on 6 to 8 March 2015 promotes the unique farming lifestyle of the people in the northern part of Malaysia at Kampung Sungai Berembang, in Perlis.  It highlighted routine activities occurring after each harvest while showcasing interesting performing arts and culture which are attractive to both local and international tourists. This creates an endearing and interactive community that involves people in the activities, where tourists have the opportunity to participate and experience a taste of these daily activities. The event was organized by the National Department for Culture and Arts.

2.PUTRAJAYA INTERNATIONAL HOT AIR BALLOON FIESTA

The event took place at Alaf Baru Monument, at Putrajaya on 12 to 15 March 2015. 

Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta (HABF) is in its seventh edition and showcased more than 20 hot air balloons from 11 countries, including Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, Thailand, the United States, Australia and Belgium. This event has attracted 300,000 visitors this year, with loads of side activities for everybody such as Helicopter Joyride, Night Glow, Cold Inflation, Solo SkyRide and more. 

It was organized by AKA Balloons Sdn Bhd & Putrajaya Corporation, Malaysia. 

3.MALAYSIA INTERNATIONAL SHOE FESTIVAL

The festival was held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on 13 to 15 March 2015 by the Malaysian Footwear Manufacturers Association. It took visitors on a fascinating journey into the world of designer footwear to view glamorous stilettos to stylish sandals, classic pumps and trendy boots. Visitors to the event took time to meet Malaysia’s renowned shoe designer Mr Jimmy Choo and other local and international shoe designers. This 56h festival was filled with shoes and fashion shows, shoe making demonstration and shoe designing competition.

4.INTERNATIONAL DRUM FESTIVAL

The event organized by the Kelantan Tourist Information Centre took place on 14 to 15 March 2015 at Sultan Muhamad IV in Kelantan Malaysia. The international drum festival showcased various drum performances and drum-making workshops to share this art of craft-making to the new generation. This programme does not only help to promote Malaysia’s great culture but is also a platform to hand down drum-making knowledge which is unfamiliar with the younger generation. Kelantan drums are popular amongst tourists as is one of the signature products of Malaysia's tourism products.

5.LIMA ‘15 TOURISM CARNIVAL

The carnival is held from 17 March 2015 to 21 March 2015 at Langkawi island of  Kedah Malaysia.  This biennial event is organised by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Malaysia and is held in conjunction with the Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA 2015), a dedicated exhibition for defense, civil and commercial applications.
