A new cultural model for Mexico

Rafael Tovar y de Teresa, President of Conaculta, participated in the meeting of the Planning Commission of the Regional Fund for Culture and the Arts of the Northeast. In the meeting he said that Mexico is witnessing a new cultural model where technological tools allow to reach more people in all parts of the country.

Some of the topics discussed at the meeting included the launch of a digital platform for both the live broadcast of international shows in public spaces as well as digital information on cultural activities in each community. Other items discussed were the development of arts projects in the region and strengthening calls for art projects. .

The head of the National Council for Culture and the Arts (CONACULTA), accompanied by Sergio Reaza Escárcega, director of the Chihuahua Institute of Culture and coordinator of the Regional Fund for Culture and the Arts of the Northeast Zone, said that the states of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipas, now have digital tools to disseminate culture  to a wider audience.


"Today through technology people have a different access to exhibitions, shows and cultural offerings. This is a new paradigm that must be understood and creatively in tune with the times," he said.
The meeting was also attended by Ruben Renteria Ontiveros, director of the Institute of Culture of Durango; Katzir Meza Medina, president of the Council for Culture and the Arts of Nuevo Leon; Libertad García Cabriales, director of the Tamaulipas Institute for Culture and the Arts, José Luis Rodríguez, representative of the Ministry of Culture of Coahuila; Antonio Crestani, CEO of Vinculación Cultural, and Irma Caire, Director of Cultural Animation.

The President of Conaculta said that the five states that make up the Northeast are an example to the rest of the country on how art transforms and unites, and where, despite of the most adverse conditions, these communities have contributed significantly to the reconstruction of the social fabric.
