Culture and Arts Programs April - May 2015

A range of culture and arts programs were undertaken by the National Department for Culture and Arts, (JKKN), Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia to promote Malaysia's bountiful and diverse cultures and festivities in Malaysia Year of Festivals 2015 (MyFest 2015) campaign.

i.14 April 2015 - PREMIER CULTURE LECTURE entitled “Empowering Malaysia New Generation to Overcome Current Challenges” was addressed by YB Khairy Jamalludin, the Honorable Minister Youths and Sports Malaysia to a large gathering of Malaysia Multimedia University scholars in Cyberjaya.  Others that attended were members of youth and sport club, Culture and Arts NGOs, academicians, government and private sector officials. The lecture was streamed live on social media to all Malaysian youths. 

 

ii.2- 3 May 2015 - A traditional music of the  “Minangkabau” people in Malaysia, CakLempong Extravagant Concert was staged at JKKN Negeri Sembilan Complex to help the promote the traditional music of CakLempong (comprising small kettle gong ensemble) among young aspiring artists.   

 

iii.8-10 May 2015 - “Awang Kudis Buta” is one of a series of Bangsawan theaters staged at Kuala Lumpur City Hall Auditorium to help revive and create appreciation of the performing arts among young audience. As a traditional Malay Opera, Bangsawan was once a major part of Malaysian lives and indulgence.
