The Singapore Botanic Gardens becomes Singapore's first UNESCO World Heritage Site

National Heritage Board,
04 July 2015, Singapore

Mr Wong, minsiter for Culture, said: “Across the entire world, there are just over 1,000 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. These are exceptional treasures for all of humanity to cherish. Now in our little red dot, we have the honour and privilege of being home to one of these world treasures. It‟s something quite remarkable that all of us, as Singaporeans, can be proud of. This is a very special Jubilee Gift for Singapore, and I‟m very happy to be able to bring back the good news to share with all Singaporeans!”
