Requirements

 

  • An appropriate three-year degree or National diploma, majoring in Fine Arts and/or Arts Management (post graduate qualifications in project management in the arts environment would be an advantage).
  • Extensive curatorial and collections management experience.
  • Procurement, financial, marketing and budgeting experience.
  • Extensive planning and organising experience.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work well within a national team.
  • An energetic, resourceful and flexible approach to the requirements of the post.
  • Computer literacy essential.
  • A valid driver’s license.

 

Key Performance Areas

 

  • Develop and initiate national call to artists to submit artwork for consideration to be procured for the pilot phase of the National Art Bank.
  • Develop and maintain a web-based submission system for artworks.
  • Oversee establishment of a National Art Bank advisory/acquisitions panel.
  • Develop and maintain specifications for selection and acquisition that meet the compliance and governance requirements of the institution.
  • Develop and maintain structures for logistical aspects such as collection points, storage facilities and documentation once artworks are selected for procurement.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate policy and procedures relevant to the functioning of the National Art Bank.
  • Develop and maintain procedures for handling and processing artworks in a rental environment.
  • Establish and maintain financial processes in conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Develop and maintain marketing exhibition concept, advertising strategy as well as structured information catalogue.
  • Create a strategic and annual performance plan and report quarterly to the governance structures of The National Art Bank.
  • Represent the National Art Bank at all levels (presentations and reports to stakeholders, marketing and sales environments as well as the broader media inclusive of radio, press, digital media and TV).
  • Network within the national visual arts community.
  • Identify and network with appropriate potential customers such as government departments, embassies, corporates and business.
  • Manage all day-to-day activities as well as relevant human resource aspects of National Art Bank personnel.
