A Folk Music Conservation Library (FMCL) was established by the Ministry of Culture and the Arts on 21st September, 2010 with a view to collecting and conservating the folk music and allied art works including folk songs and folk lyrics inherited by Sri Lankans.
This is the first such library established in Sri Lanka based on digital technology, for the provision of services like audio – visual recording and conservation of folk music.
