In June 2016 Stephen Newbould, the Artistic Director, will leave the company and we currently are seeking an artistic leader with an innovative vision and collaborative approach who can take BCMG on the next stage in its development.
The role, reporting to the Board, has overall responsibility for leading the artistic and strategic direction of the company, including programming, the commissioning of new work and the development of the learning and participation programme, but also steering the development of the company’s resources and infrastructure to enable the artistic programme to be delivered. Responsibility for the delivery of the artistic programme (production) and the management of the company is currently shared with a second leadership post which will also become vacant in June 2016, so the precise organisational structure and the division of responsibilities beyond next summer is flexible. Joint applications from two people wishing to cover all the leadership functions are also welcomed.
The post is currently full-time and covers the functions of both artistic director and chief executive. For the right candidate, however, consideration may be given to alternative models, in which for example a greater element of the strategic and company management would be delegated, and this might enable the post to be an exclusively artistic director position that is part-time.
