About the Award

For version 2015, the Administrative Department of Public Service received 238 nominations of management success stories across the country. "What we want with this initiative, created in 1998 with Law 489, it is to highlight the best practices and look for people or organizations that have successful experiences they can present them and that can be replicated," said Liliana Caballero, Director Civil Service.

Between 2000 and 2014 2,180 experiences of national, departmental and municipal entities, were nominated of which 54 were given the Award and 244 other registered at the Bank of successes to encourage replication in the country.
An evaluation committee consisting of people of the diplomatic corps, academia and the business sector, studied the experiences under five themes: Peace Policy, Equality and Education, Transparency and Fight against Corruption, Human Rights and Citizen Service. The committee selected the cases to be registered with the Bank of successes and chose a winner for each of the three categories: National, Provincial and Municipal.

The Administrative Department of Public Service awards, since 1998, the National Award for Management of the entity or agency of the Public Administration, which for good institutional performance deserves to be distinguished and registered in the Bank of Successes of Public Administration.

"The Award is presented annually by the President of the Republic to public entities that apply projects and proposals with three conditions: to be innovative, replicable and to demonstrate that they can be sustainable over time," said Liliana Caballero.

The winners of the National Award for Management receive state and social recognition for their efforts and contribution to improving governance, for their contribution to the spread and development of quality and best management practices in the Colombian public administration as well as serve as an incentive for public servants to gain recognition for their work.
