Art Is Your Human Right: London visual arts takes up the Cultural Education Challenge

Arts Council England,
27 January 2016, England

Visual arts organisations across London are taking up the gauntlet laid by the Arts Council's Cultural Education Challenge.

Launched in October 2015, the Cultural Education Challenge urges all those working in the arts and education industries to join together in offering a consistent cultural education for all children and young people.

It challenges sector leaders across the arts, education, local authorities, schools, higher education institutions and others to create new ways of working, to share resources and create joined-up arts and cultural provisions locally. Cultural Education Partnerships will be established across the country in areas of most need of arts and cultural provision.

Sabine Unaman, Visual Arts Senior Relationship Manager, London, Arts Council England, said: "It is the Arts Council's aim and responsibility to ensure that everyone has access to great art and culture - this starts from the earliest years and it is vital that it continues throughout school. That's why it's is so encouraging to see such a large offer for children and young people across the visual art portfolio with organisations picking up our Cultural Education Challenge in these creative and successful ways."
