European Night of Museums gathered more than two million visitors in France

For its 12th edition, the European Night of Museums gathered more than two million visitors in France this Saturday, May 21, 2016.

Audrey Azoulay, Minister of Culture and Communication, welcomed the success in France and Europe in the 12 th edition of the European Night of Museums.

This year, nearly 3,000 museums in Europe have participated in this event, free opening their doors to an increasingly curious audience.

Time for a special evening, visitors were able to discover other museums approach at night and through moer than 3000 animations, offering a privileged context for different tours: music, theater, literature, cinema or gastronomy. All arts came together to allow the public to invest the museum and to appropriate it.

 

One night in a growing interaction with social networks

In 2016, the European Night of Museums is shared increasingly on social networks through their shots heart, advice or shared photo, visitors have become real protagonists of the event by offering a special resonance.The Twitter account @NuitdesMusees has recorded more of10 000tweets.

This year, a new projetdigitala born: "THE NIGHT (magination)." Museums have chosen in their collections of works evoking the night according to different themes: mystery, magic, dream, fantasy, sleep, bestiary, supernatural darkness illusions. All works have been published on social networks of the Night and users invited to an original caption on their favorite work. These are the total176musées who participated.
