Ministry of Culture,
09 June 2016, Mexico

The proposal of the Encyclopedia of Latin American Literature is based on the Encyclopedia of Culture in Mexico, supported by the Secretary of State of Culture, through the Fundación para las Letras Mexicanas which can be accessed for free in the internet.

In the Palace of Fine Arts, Culture Secretary, Rafael Tovar y de Teresa, and Rebeca Grynspan, Head of the Iberoamerican Secretariat General, held a meeting to discuss the project of the Encyclopedia of Latin American Literature.

Rebeca Grynspan said the innovative project of Mexico represents an opportunity for millions of people to build bridges through knowledge of the various authors who have emerged in the countries of the region.

Meanwhile, Jose Luis Martinez, Head of International Affairs of the Secretariat of Culture, said the project will be presented at the meeting of the working group of the six countries of the Latin American Digital Cultural Agenda, which will be held next September in Madrid, Spain. In that meeting Mexico will introduce a basic structure of the encyclopedia within the Mexican digital platform and explain how each country in the region could add content to it.

Rafael Tovar y de Teresa presented the proposal of Mexico to the representatives of 22 countries during the XVIII Ibero-American Summit of Ministers of Culture held in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, in May.
