Mr Allan Alo (standing far right) with fellow members of IFACCA at the International Symposium on Freedom of Expression Ediburgh, supported by Creative Scotland and IFACCA, September 2013.

On Friday 7 July people from all over the Pacific came together to showcase a tribute extravaganza to honour the memory and legacy of Seiuli Tuilagi Allan Alo Alapati Va’ai, President of the Samoa Arts Council, who passed away on Tuesday 27 June after a short battle with cancer.  On behalf of the IFACCA Board, members and Secretariat, we extend our condolences to Seuili Allan Alo's family, friends and colleagues.

The Samoa Arts Council have issued the following statement:

The Samoa Arts Council grieves today at the passing of our Passing of our President Seuili Allan Alo after a short battle with cancer. He is very much in our prayers as are his family and his dance children to whom he was a 'mother.' The country is the poorer for Allan's untimely passing a person so full of vision, so generous with his time spent creating shows for International events held in Samoa and in Europe. He showcased Samoan culture, traditional and contemporary performance art forms while involving all other art forms. The nation will be in mourning at his passing and at our loss.
