To stimulate restoration-rehabilitation process of historical monuments of Georgia, National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia is going to launch a large-scaled campaign “Befriend of Heritage”.
Oragnizations under the Ministry, such as Kote Marjanishvili Professional State Drama Theatre and Georgian State Museum of Theatre, Music, Cinema and Choreography - Art Palace, have already joined the project.
Regarding the above-mentioned issue, On July 13, a press conference was held at the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia. The event was led by the Deputy Minister of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia Levan Kharatishvili, the Director General of the National Agency for Cultural Hertitage Preservation of Georgia Nikoloz Antidze and the Director of the Kote Marjanishvili State Drama Theatre Ekaterine Mazmishvili.
The solemn presentation of the project "Befriend of Heritage" will be held on July 15 at Vardzia Museum-Reserve. Within the scope of the event, various cultural activities will be arranged on the territory of the Reserve. Minister of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia Mikheil Giorgadze will attend the event together with other invited guests.
On the territory of the Vardzia Museum—Reserve, Kote Marjanishvili State Academic Drama Theatre will perform for the audience William Sheakspeare’s play” As you like it “ directed by Levan Tsuladze. The premiere of Levan Tsuladze's performance was held 5 years ago at Shakespeare's Globe Theater (Great Britain) and was given a top rating of 5 stars by Britain's The Guardian newspaper.
The Art Palace will present an exposition, dedicated to 850th anniversary of Shota Rustaveli. The visitors will be able to see expressive footage from the first and only film on the theme of the “Knight in the Panther’s skin”, directed by Kote Mikaberidze in 1936.
Besides, Vardzia Museum- Reserve area will host the exhibition and sale of traditional folk crafts.
Cultural activities will be followed by the presentation of the project “ Befriend of Heritage”, to be held in a festive atmosphere.
The employees of state institutions and private sector companies, together with the representatives of civil, professional and other social circles, will become members of the club on volunteer basis. According to the preliminary estimation, the project “Befriend of Heritage” will attract up to 30,000 partners, whose annual membership contribution will create a significant financial resource for the complex rehabilitation of the cultural heritage monuments.
