Where is my name? Afghan women fight for their own identity

The New Straits Times, 28 July 2017, Afghanistan

In Afghanistan’s patriarchal society, a woman’s name should not be revealed, even on her grave. “Mr X’s” mother, daughter or sister, the headstone might read, rather than the name of the deceased. Openly using the names of women is regarded as inappropriate and even an insult in the conservative Muslim nation.
