This week the Ministry of Culture has hosted consultative meetings with the members of the media sector concerning the planned establishment of the Media Council.

The Council is expected to work as an advisory body of the Ministry of Culture, capable of contributing to the establishment of media policy-making directions, and become a platform for discussion of conceptual issues in the field of public information.

The emergence of the Media Council is expected to encourage direct and sustained dialogue between the Ministry of Culture and the members of the media sector. Representatives of associations active in the field of public information, representatives of professional associations of journalists and specialists of the Ministry of Culture are expected to form the basis of the council; experts, researchers and scientists will be involved in discussing individual issues. The establishment of the Media Council is scheduled for early September.
