Today, the Lithuanian Council for Culture plans to announce the results of the first round of funding for cultural and artistic projects administered by the Council in 2022. In the months between the announcement of the calls for proposals and the submission of project applications last October and today, and the signing of the contracts, major and fundamental changes have taken place in the region. Highlighting the events of recent days and Russia's military actions in Ukraine, the Council supports the position publicly expressed by the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania, Mr Simon Kairis, that artists and performers from Russia are unwelcome in Lithuania. The Council agrees that Russia's "soft power" must be limited.
