Each IFACCA Regional Group has a Regional Focal Point. This is a National Member institution of the Federation that liaises with members in the region and organises a meeting of members or other joint initiative. The role of Regional Focal Point is for a fixed period and is open to all National Members on a rotating basis.
The Ministry of Culture, Croatia is our current Regional Focal Point for Europe. It assumed the role in March 2019, as the next host of the Europe Chapter Meeting. Minister of Culture Nina Obuljen Koržinek is the official representative of the RFP and Ms Nevena Tudor Perković is the RFP Chapter Liaison.
The Ministry of Culture works in the field of culture related to development and improvement of culture, cultural and artistic creativity, cultural life and cultural activities; the establishment of institutions and other legal entities in culture; promoting cultural ties with other countries and international institutions; professional and administrative tasks for the UNESCO Croatian Commission; administrative affairs in the field of public information; promoting the programme of cultural needs of members of the Croatian people in other countries; provision of financial, material and other conditions for performing and developing the activities of culture.
REGIONAL INITIATIVES
The Ministry of Culture, Croatia co-hosted a meeting of the Europe Chapter in October 2019 in Zagreb and Rijeka. The meeting included a public forum on Friday 18 October in Rijeka - European Capital of Culture 2020 - with speakers from the Federation who explored international perspectives on participatory approaches to arts and culture. The forum was hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Croatia in partnership with Kultura Nova Foundation and IFACCA.
FORMER REGIONAL FOCAL POINTS
Arts Council England (ACE) was the inaugural RFP for Europe. It co-hosted a meeting of the Europe Chapter in October 2018 in Liverpool, which coincided with the 10-year anniversary of Liverpool being European Capital of Culture (2008) and ACE programmed a forum to discuss the legacy and impact of the European Capitals of Culture, the European Year of Cultural Heritage, arts and place-making, collaborative leadership and local participation. Arts Council England also organised a cultural programme for members, which included tours of the Museum of Liverpool, Tate Liverpool, Liverpool Biennial and Manchester International Festival. Prior to the Europe Chapter Meeting, ACE also hosted the fiftieth meeting of the IFACCA Board in Manchester.
