Australia Council grant recipients announced

Recipients in the latest round of grants from the Australia Council’s Community Cultural Development Board (CCDB) have been announced. More than $2.3 million has been allocated nationally to individuals, arts organisations and communities across the following categories: Key Organisations (triennial), Key Organisations (program) and Fellowships. The grant round delivered an applicant success rate of 44%, with recipients coming from every state and territory in Australia. The 15 successful individuals, arts organisations and communities included:
  • Contact Inc (Qld) $207,648 – for the continuation of innovative cross-cultural and cross-artform work using community cultural development processes with young people from diverse backgrounds
  • Arts in Action (SA) $270,000 – for a statewide program of activities and projects designed to increase support for people with a disability to participate in the arts
  • Vahid Vahed (NSW) $80,000 – Fellowship 2003-2004 to concentrate on the establishment of ICYMAN (International Children and Youth Multimedia Access Network), which will act as a platform to address the issues of children and youth globally through exchanges, film and multimedia
  • Katherine Regional Arts Inc (NT) $236,700 – program support to continue work bringing together communities and arts organisations, stimulating community cultural development through the Katherine region of the Northern Territory The board also approved the CCDB Young and Emerging Artists Initiative for 2003. Titled, ‘Out there – Everywhere’, the main focus of the initiative will be to provide support for residencies, secondments or placements for young and emerging leaders with suitable international partner organisations.
