03 October 2002, Australia

'Government agencies in many countries are rebuilding their research capabilities ... in other countries, research capabilities are being built for the first time...' says Professor J. Mark Schuster in Informing Cultural Policy: The Research and Information Infrastructure, released this week. The 292 page report, produced with the support of the Pew Charitable Trusts, describes how several nations manage policy-relevant information on arts and culture. Last December, IFACCA participated in a meeting at the Rutgers University Center for Urban Policy Research to consider how the report's findings might inform the development of a US cultural policy system. The foreword, contents and order form are available here. National Members of IFACCA will receive a complimentary copy of the report.
