Business plan for the national ccd journal 'Artwork' Through research and consultation the consultant will develop a business plan focussing on a national model of production, promotion and distribution for ARTWORK Magazine, the national journal for Community Cultural Development. The process will be undertaken from October-December 2002 and will include liaising with the Network and undertaking research with other key stakeholders. The final written report will be required by 13/12/02. The consultant will work in a facilitative way with the CAN SA Editorial Team & Executive Directors of CANWA, CCDNSW and QCAN. The consultancy will result in a business plan for the Artwork Magazine Project and will include rationale and recommendations in the following areas: Production a) Outline of the key partners in the project, management structure and lines of authority to ensure increased national input and ownership of editorial processes and the finished product b) Editorial Guidelines and policy c) Roles & Responsibilities of the Editorial Committee, Guest Editor and Production Team, d) Review of all contracting arrangements including writers, artists, designers copyright arrangements, online publication permissions e) Development of selection criteria for commissioned articles that will reflect ccd priorities nationally, capturing the leadership role of the CANs in defining CCD practise and theory Publication a) Clear options for and analysis of the implications (including costings) of a change of design and format of the magazine b) Exploration of possible linkages between the publication and the national ccd website (www.ccd.net) and options for maximising the potential relationship between these media (such as the role of critical debate through the Forum capacity as a feedback mechanism) Distribution a) Options for increased and improved national distribution b) A formula for identifying unit cost, subscription and retail price c) Production of a National distribution plan for the magazine within and beyond the sector; including an outline of the most efficient models of magazine distribution for each state, and focussing on the expansion of the distribution base d) A promotional strategy e) Exploration of national resourcing options for the ongoing development of the publication Budget and Timeline a) Editorial, Production, printing and distributions costs b) Redesign options c) Options for staged adoption of the recommendations in the plan
