IFACCA/Artshub,
23 January 2003, Australia

The Australia Council recently released its background report on trade, entitled the Cultural Trade Background Report. The report sets out many issues raised by the council in its 2001 submission to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) for the World Trade Organisation's (WTO) Fourth Trade Policy Review of Australia. These issues include the recent experience in world trade negotiations relating to arts and culture; the social and economic benefits of Australian arts and culture; the future of regulatory issues regarding trade and culture, and the Australia Council's principles and recommendations.
