Auckland's collaborative approach to arts marketing

Arts Advocates Auckland and the Marketing the Arts in the Auckland Region (MAAR) working party have released a feasibility report into establishing a collaborative arts marketing body for the Auckland region. The report argues that only through collaboration can Auckland’s arts brand be strengthened, so as to result in economic benefits for the region, and for New Zealand as a whole. Angela Antony, Chair of the Arts Advocates Auckland and a member of MAAR, believes that the time is ripe for a collaborative approach to arts marketing. ‘Each area [in Auckland] has its own distinct arts strengths,’ she commented. ‘If we can combine those strengths, we can create a very strong, very vibrant brand for Auckland arts.’ Creating the brand involves a five-year plan, entitled 'Branding Auckland for the Arts', which is to be implemented by 2007.
