Canada Council announces 2003 York Wilson Endowment Award

The Canada Council for the Arts has awarded the 2003 York Wilson Endowment Award to the Edmonton Art Gallery for the purchase of Arlene Stamp’s digital photography work, ‘Signs of Breathing’.
Created in 1997, the York Wilson Endowment Award is given annually to a Canadian art museum or public gallery to assist it with the purchase of an original artwork by a Canadian artist.
Valued at CA$30,000 the award will be presented during a reception for the Edmonton arts community, given by the Canada Council on September 15.
In addition to its role of promoting and fostering the arts in Canada, the Canada Council for the arts administers and awards prizes and fellowships to over 100 artists and scholars annually.
