The International Network for Cultural Diversity's Working Group on Cultural Impact Assessment has spent the past year studying the concept of applying an impact assessment model to the cultural dimensions of development projects.  While the concept of assessing the environmental implications of development projects is well known and widely implemented, there is a need to examine the cultural consequences of development.   The INCD's work on this issue has consisted of a summary of previous work in the field and the creation of a Draft Impact Assessment Framework.  INCD's work was presented on June 30 at the World Culture Forum by Working Group and out-going Steering Committee Member Leah Abayao. The INCD will be sharing this work with development agencies and NGOs and is continuing to seek additional funding so that the concepts can be taken further.
