Program Officer: English Theatre

- A comprehensive working knowledge of the history and current status of the arts in Canada and most notably in contemporary Canadian English theatre; - Knowledge of the diversity of cultural practices in Canada, including non-Western forms; a sensitivity to their distinct value and the contribution that they make to the artistic and cultural life in Canada is essential; - Strong oral communication and writing skills are needed to build strong and effective working relationships, as well as strong team working skills to clearly, effectively, and tactfully communicate with clients, assessment committees, and colleagues at the Council and in other organizations; - Time and priority management skills are essential; - Five years' or more of experience within the discipline and experience directly related to the principal responsibilities of the position; - An understanding of the interrelationships and the complexities of the artistic milieu, including the organizations and institutions within the discipline, as well as experience in producing, touring and/or presenting; - A university degree or equivalent professional practice in the field; - Experience in analysis of financial data, theatre production and financial statements; - A working knowledge of English and French.
