Passages - Swiss Cultural Magazine Devoted to Dance

Pro-Helvetia,
01 January 2005, Switzerland

The latest issue of Pro Helvetia's cultural magazine Passages is devoted to contemporary dance in Switzerland. It looks at the marginal areas of dance where art meets society, and the creative friction that arises. Passages goes backstage with established and independent dance groups and takes a peek behind the scenes at the institutions that promote dance. The scope of this issue is wide-ranging and represents an informative read about dance culture in Switzerland and beyond. An article titled Metamorphosis in the Source Code Beat Mazenauer discusses the range of possibilities presented through computer choreography, investigating the theory of the body as a biotechnologically perfectible object, capable of immortality. In Figures Alone Are Not Enough! Lilo Weber looks at how dance is being promoted in Switzerland and in the UK and asks, ‘how can dance policy be judged?’ To view Passages, CLICK HERE To read the editorial accompanying this issue of Passages, CLICK HERE
