Asialink and Australia Council share a dance with Japan

IFACCA/Artshub,
27 May 2005, Australia

In partnership with the Australia Council Dance Board, Asialink, whose mission is to increase understanding and build partnerships between Australia and the countries of Asia, has selected five outstanding Australian choreographers to develop new collaborative works in Japan over the next two years. The choreographers will have the opportunity to collaborate with an exciting mix of Japanese choreographers, dancers, designers, architects, screen-based and new media practitioners. The scope of the projects range from the development of a dance video to dance performance/installations to multimedia presentations in Australia and Japan. This program is intended to celebrate and extend existing relationships between Australia and Japan, and will culminate in 2006 during the inter-governmental 'Year of Cultural Exchange' between the two countries. The program is supported by the Australia Council, Arts Victoria, NSW Ministry of the Arts, Critical Path and the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi Japan SA Award through Arts SA.
