National Director

The Canadian Conference of the Arts is seeking a dynamic National Director to lead its efforts on behalf of Canadian artists and cultural organizations. The CCA is a not-for-profit registered charity which is guided by an active Board of Governors elected by the membership. The National Director reports directly to the Board through the President of the organization. The CCA office is located in downtown Ottawa and is staffed by a team of dedicated, hard-working individuals, supplemented by various contract workers in different locations. The ideal candidate for the position of National Director will have:
  • superior leadership skills
  • a proven track record as an arts manager
  • a clear understanding of the Canadian and international cultural environment
  • an in-depth knowledge of current cultural policy issues
  • demonstrated skill at lobbying and advocacy work
  • a broad network of associates in the arts and cultural industries within and outside government and extending across the country
  • the capacity to develop these relationships to further the aims of the CCA The selection committee will also be assessing potential candidates for:
  • compatibility with the current board and staff
  • strong evidence of an activist orientation
  • superior communications and analytical abilities
