Montreal’s Minister of Culture and Communication, Mrs. Line Beauchamp, has helped to launch the city’s Culture Week 2005 program at a celebratory event held at the Hall of Wilfrid-Pelletier of Arts House. On behalf of the Quebec government, Mrs Beauchamp announced that funds totalling $430,000 have been allocated in support of this important event which aims to be a celebration of the regions culture and heritage. The funding pot is made up of subsidies from the Ministry for Culture and Communications ($300,000), funding from the Metropolitan Development Fund of the Ministry for Municipal Affairs and Regions ($100,000) and of $30,000 from the ministry for Immigration and Cultural Communities. The assistance package allows the Culture Week organisers to look after the implementation and promotion of hundreds of activities designed to raise consciousness of culture everywhere in Quebec, under the slogan ‘Enter the fascinating universe of creators and creations.’ For further information (in French), CLICK HERE.
