Pro Helvetia has been praising the virtues of a festival seeking to celebrate children’s literature that will take place in Domat/Ems in the Canton of Grison from the 11th to 13th November. The festival aims turn the spotlight on the challenges that need to be overcome when writing for children and young people and ‘key themes in writing for children’ will be the subject of a debate. The festival, substantially funded by Pro Helvetia, has been scheduled coincide with Rhaeto-Romanic (Switzerland's fourth official language) authors' federation's annual publication "Litteratura", aimed at children, which this year is entitled "Eni capeni capumperté" - a phrase which corresponds roughly to the English children's rhyme "Eeny meeny miny mo". Even though the name sounds a bit childish, authors contributing to the publication can attest that writing for a young audience is anything but child's play. The festival begins this Friday evening with a presentation of the "Premi Term Bel" award, the highest and most highly coveted award in Rhaeto-Romanic literature. Other highlights include the inaugural screening of the first-ever version of an Asterix film dubbed in Rhaeto-Romanic. For further information, CLICK HERE
