The Minister for Culture and Communication and minister responsible for the region of Montreal, Line Beauchamp, and the parliamentary leader associated with the government and president of the counselling committee on the investments into culture, Pierre Moreau, participated today in the launching of the Cultural Investment Program, which aims to encourage private individuals, companies and foundations to donate more liberally to organisations belonging to the domain of culture and communication. "The Cultural Investments Program offers new possibilities and new capacities to allow organisations belonging to the domains of culture and communication to stabilize their financial standing and to have access to an additional source of income. I am convinced that this program will contribute to a change in the behaviour of private individuals, companies and foundations towards creating favourable conditions through increased financing by way of donation," declared the Minister. The CALQ benefits from a start-up budget of $5M to achieve the goals of the Cultural Investment Program. In order to maintain an equity in the distribution of subsidies between the organizations of small and large size, a sum of $1,5M will be reserved for organizations whose annual income is less than $500,000.
