Partnership and Networks Officer Division: Partnership, Networks and Arts Promotion (PANAP) Classification: CC-8 Affiliation: PSAC Term: indeterminate Salary Scale: $ 55,045 to $ 66,840 Summary Under the direction of the Partnership and Networks Coordinator, contributes to the development of and implements plans and strategies to maintain and develop partnerships and networks; maintains constant contact with, and provides support to key partners and networks; maintains and updates Partnership and Networks work plans and budgets; provides policy, research, administrative and communications assistance to working groups and committees in order to move the work of these groups forward; undertakes research into the possibility and feasibility of new partnerships; conducts research, writes and edits materials on issues, tools and best practices for dissemination to partners in both print documents and the web; maintains and updates network websites, listservs and research and communications materials; coordinates partnerships and networks meetings and events; maintains up-to-date information and inventories of Council partnership and network projects; manages and oversees special projects; acts as a liaison with Public Affairs, Research and Communications Division and Arts Division staff, and carries out other duties as assigned. Major responsibilities Performs the duties of Partnership and Networks Officer by: Contributing to the development of and implementation of plans and strategies to maintain and develop partnerships and networks; Maintaining constant contact with, and providing support and resource materials to partners and networks; Maintaining and updating Partnership and Networks work plans and budgets; Providing policy, research, administrative and communications assistance to network; Working groups and committees in order to move the work of these groups forward; Conducting research, writing and editing materials on issues, tools and best practices for dissemination to partners, both through print documents and the web; Undertaking research into the possibility and feasibility of new partnerships; Maintaining and updating network websites, listservs and research and communications materials; Coordinating in-person and conference call meetings of partnerships and networks, and related events; overseeing logistics, compiling meeting documents, taking notes, conducting meeting evaluations, and circulating summary reports; Maintaining up-to-date information and inventories of Council partnership and network projects; Managing and overseeing multi-stakeholder special projects to address complex issues shared by partners and network members; Acting as a liaison with Public Affairs, Research and Communications Division and Arts Division staff responsible for partnerships and networks, particularly in the area of research. Knowledge and skills The position requires an excellent understanding of partnership and network strategies and techniques; knowledge of the Canadian arts environment and key issues; and good knowledge of the role and mandate of the Canada Council. Skills in relationship-building, networking and collaboration across disciplines, sectors and jurisdictions, including the ability to facilitate discussions and build consensus are a requirement for this position. The incumbent must be able to work in a complex and demanding environment with multiple stakeholders. Excellent communications skills in both official languages are essential. Tact, client service orientation and the ability to listen well and think strategically are especially essential. Research skills would be highly desirable. The required knowledge and skills are normally acquired through completion of a university degree in arts management, communications, administration or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience. Experience The position requires five years of experience in arts management, communications, networking and partnership building. Consequence of errors Because of the senior nature of many of the people with whom the incumbent will deal daily (federal, provincial, territorial, municipal and private sector funders, and partner-organizations from many sectors of society), errors in communications and judgment could have adverse effects on the perception of the Council. Errors in communications could misrepresent the positions and intentions of the Canada Council and lead to a loss of credibility with the professional arts community, partners and networks. Working environment and travel The work is performed in an office environment. The incumbent is required to travel 5 to 10 days a year. The diversity and breadth of activity requires the incumbent to incorporate multiple job tasks and move multiple agendas forward at the same time. Due to the irregular working hours and the need to coordinate travel plans for outreach activities, the incumbent, in consultation with the Coordinator (PANAP), must plan a monthly work schedule to maximize his or her time and to minimize administrative costs. Language requirements The position requires the use of both official languages and a high degree of proficiency in writing in both English and French.
