The ArtsWork: Strengthening connections between the Arts sector and New Zealand’s creative economy
In 2005, Creative New Zealand hosted a National Forum which brought
together arts practitioners from around the country and leaders from a
number of national agencies in allied sectors. The aim was to engage
in strategic thinking to strengthen connections between the arts sector
and the creative economy.
The Forum was the culmination of a regional workshop series
facilitated by Creative New Zealand in six cities around New Zealand.
These workshops explored how to grow opportunities for artists in New
Zealand's economy, both regionally and nationally.
This on-line publication draws on all the discussions held at the
regional workshops and at the National Forum. It seeks to stimulate
your interest, thinking and ideas whether you are in the arts, creative
industries, tertiary education, public or private sectors.
Creative New Zealand will be drawing on the material presented here
over the next year as we engage in further policy development and
advocacy work. We encourage you to do the same.
