On 8 January 2007, Pro Helvetia, the Swiss Arts Council, is opening a liaison office in New Delhi, India, its first in Asia and its fourth overall after Cape Town, Cairo and Warsaw. The new office will give those in the Swiss cultural sector easier access to India's rich culture and to an arts scene that has, according to Pro Helvetia's latest newsletter, high expectations for cultural exchanges with Switzerland.
