Under the direct supervision of the Director of Communications, designs, plans, administers and directs the Council’s large national program of prizes, fellowships and awards for artists and scholars, both those which are funded by the Council and those which are funded by private donations and endowments (including the Killam Program and the Musical Instrument Bank); directs the steering committees consisting of external and internal members for major prizes and prize events; administers the Japan-Canada Fund; directs the Council’s efforts towards acquisition of new endowments to fund prizes for excellence and new musical instruments; handles donor and sponsor relations; develops policy regarding prizes, fellowships, awards and donations; acts as an advisor to other agencies and foundations on questions of prize administration, adjudication and funding policy; and performs other related duties.
