Educult,
01 October 2008, Austria

The Information Network on Education in Europe Eurydice has decided to launch a comparative study on arts and cultural education in collaboration with the European Network of Civil Servants  representing ministries of education and culture. Therefore, Eurydice is conducting a survey among experts about national framework for arts and cultural education in the EU member states. As part of phase 1 of the survey, EDUCULT was commissioned in spring 2008 to inform Eurydice about the definition and aims of arts and cultural education, and their implementation into the curriculum in compulsory general education, ISCED levels 1 and 2 (age 5/6-15) in Austria. The national reports of phase 1 have been compiled and are currently revised.

In autumn 2008, EDUCULT is dealing with phase 2, addressing pupil assessment and teacher education. From 2009 on, the whole report and national descriptions will be available on the Eurydice website.

Meanwhile, we can recommend you the portal for a comprehensive overview of the state of the art in national education systems in Europe.
