On 19 March, a six-week festival is kicking off in Linz, the European culture capital of the year, with cultural titbits from Switzerland. «Extra Europe - Switzerland», organised by Pro Helvetia, is on show until 3 May as part of a cultural exchange programme between Switzerland and Austria. A first return visit will be paid by Austrian cartoonists at the Fumetto Comix Festival in Lucerne.

One of the programme items here is a panel discussion scheduled for 30 March, 8 pm, on the benefits and drawbacks of state-sponsored cultural exchange. Participants include Martin Heller, Artistic Director of «Linz 09», Heike Munder, Director of the Migros Museum of Contemporary Art, animation film maker Jonas Raeber and Pius Knüsel, Director of Pro Helvetia.
