European members meet in Malta

The sixth meeting of IFACCA’s European Chapter took place in Valleta, Malta, on 24 May 2011, hosted by the Malta Council for the Arts and Culture and chaired by Alan Davey, CEO, Arts Council England.

IFACCA’s 25 European members have been meeting as a regional group annually since 2007 and voted to formally establish a European Chapter of IFACCA in Madrid, September 2010.

At the Malta meeting, representatives from 10 countries discussed the European Commission’s public consultation on the future of the Culture Programme; IFACCA’s research on creative intersections and preparations for the 5th World Summit; current debates and research into the future of cultural policy and; other issues of interest to European members.  Ms Shelagh Wright from Missions, Models, Money was a guest speaker at the meeting.

The European Chapter will meet again in Melbourne, Australia following the World Summit on Arts and Culture 2011.
