Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism,
11 June 2013, Viet Nam

The second UNESCO Culture and Development Week will take place in the central province of Quang Nam from June 19-26.

The event will provide a good opportunity for management agencies, social organisations and domestic and foreign lawmakers to discuss issues related to culture and development, as well as ways to maintain sustainable development goals.

At the event, UNESCO and the provincial authorities will announce the outcomes of their cooperation over the past decade, which reflect the contributions by heritage tourism to sustainable development of the province in particular and the country in general.

During the week many activities will be conducted, including an awards ceremony for a fine art contest, a display of relics from the My Son sanctuary heritage site, and the inauguration of a tourist information centre in the ancient town of Hoi An.

The first UNESCO Culture and Development Week took place from 5–9 March 2012 in Hanoi, which included policy dialogues, symposiums and roundtable meetings with media discussing the preservation and promotion of cultural heritages in Vietnam.
