Policy and Planning Coordinator

Under the direction of the Head, Policy, Planning and Partnership, leads the corporate strategic policy analysis, coordination and development function across the organization; responsible for managing, coordinating and providing senior-level advice/analyses on matters related to corporate policy and strategic planning; provides horizontal project management and leadership for policy development and coordination in support of strategic planning, corporate planning, corporate policy positions and in response to external requests and requirements; develops government submissions, position papers, briefing material and other corporate/strategic documents and related work supporting the Board and executive management. Analyzes and interprets a wide range of legislative, arts policy and research material and recommends strategies, positions and initiatives that support the Council’s mandate and strategic directions.

Designated as the National Coordinator responsible for the implementation of Section 41 of the Official Languages Act, including officially representing the Canada Council and liaising with federal, provincial and other organizations to exchange information, present Council positions, and coordinate inputs on horizontal policy and strategic issues.

The incumbent may be required to travel up to 20 days per year and work irregular hours.
