The creation of a cultural decentralization unit in Salto takes public policies nationwide.

The ‘Las Nubes’ chalet in Salto will host the new unit of decentralization of the National Directorate of Culture  The decision was published on Monday, 16 March by the Minister María Julia Muñoz, together with the National Director of Culture Sergio Mautone and the Diirector of MEC (Ministry of Education and Culture) Centers Glenda Rondán.

Fernando Alonso, a renowned cultural manager, will be responsible for the regional headquarters of the National Directorate of Culture. It was described by the Secretary of State as "an immense institutional innovation" because it will lead to the decentralization of cultural policies in the entire national territory
"We like the bold decisions taken with courage and fearlessness. They are especially needed in culture. Because culture is by definition and nature, a battlefield where battles against the established orders are fought, and centralism is an `established order' that must be broken."

In addition, he said that besides the personal characteristics and qualities of Alonso, the choice of the department is due to the contribution of the Salta culture to the history of culture and national art. "You just need to talk about people like Horacio Quiroga, Lamarque Pons, Peloduro, Victor Lima, Marosa Di Giorgio, among others."

Meanwhile, Glenda Rondán mentioned the services provided by MEC Centers towards the decentralization of public policies and highlighted the historical and cultural value of "Las Nubes". "It is not easy to speak from this place because Pablo Neruda, Jorge Luis Borges, and many personalities were in this house. This is where the first monument to Lorca was made.” 

Sergio Mautone said that the National Directorate is planning a tour of the country in April. The goal is to bring the promotion and development work offered by the Ministry closer to the citizens. The Directorate will also organize public on the action plan, information exchange and inputs for the preparation of a National Plan of Culture.
