Minister Henry engages staff in strategic planning workshop

From the start of her tenure at the Ministry of Education, Department of Culture, Youth and Sport, Minister Nicolette Henry has emphasized the importance of strategy planning in the efficiency of the department. Today, she facilitated the first of a series of strategic planning sessions with the programme and department heads of the Department of Culture, Youth and Sport.

This session became even more important following budget meetings with the Ministry of Finance where it was highlighted that having a strategic plan is crucial for the financial management of the department. In this regard, today’s session is the start of an intense period that will end with the production of a three year strategic plan, in the initial stage, that can be expanded into a five year plan.

Minister Henry comes from a rich background rich of strategic planning and the development of policies. Together, with the efforts of the staff it is anticipated that the Department will become a model others can follow.

Some of the areas covered were – who is involved in strategic planning, the steps of developing a strategic plan, the content, environmental scan, SWOT analysis, the vision and mission statements, and the core values.
